RESOURCE SPECIALIST
About the position…
This is a full-time (40 hours per week) position, reporting to the Director of Referral Services. This position requires a high school diploma or GED, strong written and verbal communication skills, computer experience and good customer service skills. The scheduled work hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.- 5:30 p.m., with a one-hour lunch break.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Client Referrals: Assisting people who contact the agency by telephone, email, or in person by providing referrals to child care programs or other community resources to meet their needs.
- Client Follow-Up: Contacting clients by telephone or email to determine whether services provided met their needs, and whether additional referrals are needed.
- Provider Vacancy Updates: Contacting child care providers, by phone, to update their records showing vacancies.
- Other general clerical duties (filing, making copies, etc.).
The successful candidate for this position will:
- Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Have demonstrated computer skills.
- Have effective time management skills and the ability to effectively balance multiple projects.
- Have a positive attitude and be willing to work as a member of our team.
- Enjoy working with people, by phone and in person.
- Have a positive work history, including a good attendance record.
- Have some knowledge of or experience with social service agencies, the child care industry, and/or working in a fast-paced office environment.
Salary & benefits:
The starting salary range for this position is $11-$12.50 per hour, based on skills and experience. ERC offers a generous benefit package which includes paid holidays, paid time off (PTO) plan, cafeteria benefit plan, retirement plan, life insurance, and group health insurance.

EARLY CHILDHOOD WELLNESS SPECIALIST
About the position…
This is a full-time (40 hours per week) exempt position, reporting to the Topeka Provider Services Manager. This position requires a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or a related field. The person in this position will work from the agency’s Topeka office location. Typical work hours are 8-5 Monday through Friday; however, approximately one evening per week and 4-6 Saturdays per year are required. This position will begin July 9, 2012.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Provide technical assistance and consultation to child care providers and programs around four primary target areas: health, safety, physical activity and nutrition.
- Design and deliver professional development opportunities for child care providers and teachers promoting wellness and increased physical activity.
- Assist with program evaluation.
- Maintain accurate records and generate reports of all activities.
- Work effectively with all members of the provider services team and the overall agency.
The ideal candidate for this position will:
- Have interest, knowledge and expertise in the areas of child development, health, nutrition and safety for children ages birth-12.
- Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

- Have strong organizational skills and good attention to detail.
- Have effective time management skills and the ability to effectively balance multiple projects.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR

The person in this position will work from the agency’s Topeka office location. Typical work hours are 8-5 Monday through Friday; however, approximately one evening per week and 4-6 Saturdays per year are required.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Oversee and coordinate the professional development activities and events sponsored by the agency.
- Oversee the production and publication of the professional development calendar/ class listings.
- Design and deliver professional development opportunities for child care providers and teachers around child development, developmentally appropriate practices that promote optimal learning experiences for children ages birth to twelve, and the Environment Rating Scales.
- Maintain accurate records and generate reports of all activities.
- Assist with program evaluation.
- Represent the agency in a positive and professional manner.
- Work effectively with all members of the provider services team and the overall agency.
